This week we honor Lauren Zacharias of the IC West Girls Basketball team as the Sheet Metal Workers Local 263 of Eastern and Central Iowa Athlete of the Week! Zacharias helped lead West to the Class 5A Girls State title with a 56-45 win over cross-town rival IC High in Des Moines. The junior had a terrific tournament starting with a game-saving block in the quarter-final win over WDM Dowling and a 15 point performance in the championship game. Zacharias was honored for her great play by being selected to the Class 5A All -Tournament team.
