1600 KGYM on FM

Because of the intricacies of AM radio broadcasting, depending on where you live it can get difficult if not impossible to receive our over the air signal after dark.  Well, we've come up with a possible solution for you, with a little help from our sister station, Z102.9:

HD does not stand (in this case, anyway) for "high definition."  In radio, HD stands for "hybrid digital."  To make a complex idea simple, it essentially means radio stations can seamlessly piggyback a digital signal onto their normal analog signal.  On the FM band, it also means you can put multiple channels of programming out over your one existing frequency.  That's the part that may help you hear us at night in parts of Eastern Iowa, if you are having trouble doing so now.

Our pals down the hall at Z102.9 have Multicast HD capability.  If you have an HD Radio (look for the logo above when you are shopping), the 102.9 frequency will now carry the usual Z102.9 programming on 102.9-1, a Rock channel on 102.9-2, and a simulcast of 1600 KGYM on 102.9-3.

This is fairly new technology, and still being developed and improved.  Right now the HD signal on 102.9 will not cover Z102.9's entire analog coverage area, but there are some really smart people working to make it better all the time.
