This week we honor the CR Washington Baseball team as our Carpenters Union, Local 308 in Cedar Rapids, Local 1260 in Iowa City and Local 678 in Waterloo/Dubuque “Corridor Spotlight Team of the Week. Washington qualified for the Class 4A State Baseball Tournament, for the second consecutive season, with a 5-2 win over Iowa City West. The Warriors, seeded 8th in Des Moines, then knocked off #1 seeded and #1 rated Johnston 7-5 in a quarter-final. The Warriors will now face West Des Moines Valley in a semi-final as Washington looks to win their first state title since 1994.
